Once an extension has been added to an SAAV Extend base array and a new calibration file and site file has been generated, a new program will need to be generated with the File Generator program for collecting data with a Campbell Scientific data logger.

NOTE: The instructions provided here are to generate programs for Campbell Scientific data loggers with Measurand's File Generator software. For loggers from Ackcio, RST, and Worldsensing, the newly assembled SAAV Extend simply needs to be provisioned on the data logger node.

This process is also covered in the following video on working with SAAV Extend software.

For an SAAV Extend that has been previously monitored prior to extension in a dam lift application, begin by opening the previously generated logger program with the Open button. This will pre-populate many of the fields in the File Generator interface. If you are using SAAV Extend in a configurable length application where the sensorized length of the installation is customized in the field prior to installation, you can start by immediately configure the program details as describe below.

Update the Project Title, Preliminary Samples, and Reading Interval fields if desired. Click on the Add SAAV Extend button and then the Browse button. Navigate to and select the site file created with SAARecorder to define the base array and any attached extensions and click on the OK button.

If you open a previously generated program for this SAAV Extend prior to extension, then clicking the Add SAAV Extend button and selecting the site file created with SAARecorder will automatically update the serial number of the SAAV Extend array in the project with the serial number of the new topmost segment in the extended array based on the order specified in the site file.

If this is the initially generated program for the SAAV Extend in a configurable length application, then clicking the Add SAAV Extend button and selecting the site file created with SAARecorder will add an entry highlighted in red to the listing of ShapeArrays with the serial number of the topmost segment in the extended array. You must click on the Edit button to configure the interface to which the SAAV Extend is connected and the COM port on the data logger to which that interface is connected. After configuring the interface and COM port, click on the Save button.

Click on the Generate button and select a location and filename for the new program before clicking the Save button.

NOTE: Measurand recommends saving the logger program to the same project folder where the combined calibration file and the site file were saved and where the raw data will be saved and converted.

Upload the new program to your data logger to record data from the newly extended ShapeArray.
